Vehicles most frequently record just 5,000 kilometres on the clock
Prague 24 April 2018 – The nearly new used car market in countries where the revived Mototechna brand operates offered more vehicles year-on-year in the first quarter, with a much lower mileage on the clock and the same prices as in the same period last year. The domestic Škoda marque is the most popular for nearly new cars in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia while Opel was the most popular in Hungary and Poland. These figures emerged from the constant monitoring of the market by the Mototechna brand, which is a member of the AURES Holdings group.
While a total of 53,344 vehicles were offered in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary during the first three months of last year, the number increased by 1,200 (to 54,566 in total) this year. Of this number, 17,178 vehicles were offered in the Czech Republic, which is 424 vehicles up on last year. As usual, Prague recorded the highest number of cars on offer (5,885) and the Vysočina Region the lowest number (273). The average price of the vehicles advertised in the Czech Republic was CZK 458,890, which is the same as last year . The average mileage fell considerably in all V4 countries, falling from 10,000 kilometres to 8,702 kilometres in the Czech Republic, while in Hungary, for example, mileage fell by 80%, from 5,000 km to just 1,000 km. On average, the vehicles offered across all four countries most frequently recorded 5,000 kilometres on the clock during the first quarter of this year, compared to an average of 8,000 kilometres in the same period last year.
With regard to specific models, the Škoda marque clearly dominates the market in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia, while Opel is the best seller in Poland and Hungary. In the Czech Republic the first four places were easily held by the Škoda models Fabia, Octavia, Rapid and Citigo. The situation is slightly different in Slovakia, with the Rapid coming first, followed by the Octavia and Fabia. “It is interesting to observe how demand for individual marques and models differs so completely across the individual V4 countries. Czechs and Slovaks are loyal to Škoda, but this marque isn’t even in the TOP 5 in Poland and Hungary,“ reports Karolína Topolová, Managing Director of AURES Holdings. The Opel Astra is the best seller in Poland and in Hungary, replacing the Mercedes C which took first place last year. The Suzuki Vitara secured fourth place, making it a curiosity in the list of most frequently advertised vehicles in Hungary.
The revived Mototechna brand specialises in selling nearly new used cars as is a member of the AAA AUTO group, which it registered a 9.7 per cent rise in demand in this segment last year on the Czech market. Nearly 7,500 nearly new cars were sold in total under the Mototechna brand in 2017, and just under 40,000 vehicles since 2012.
